Latin Jazz Quintet: Quinteto Caballero

Quinteto Caballero is a superb, exhilarating Latin jazz quintet led by Bill Caballero. 

Even before settling in San Diego, Bill was drawn to the diverse musical talent he found when passing through here on trips between his native San Antonio and San Francisco, and Quinteto Caballero is his latest project to showcase that talent.

Using his trumpet and flugelhorn, Bill voices Latin jazz interpretations of standards and ballads, as well as original tunes and covers of traditional, Salsa, and Brazilian music. 

In addition to trumpet and flugelhorn, Quinteto Caballero features dynamic musicians on piano, bass, congas, and timbale/trap. Over the years, these talented musicians have played with such luminaries as Lila Downs, Oscar Chávez, and La Maldita Vecindad.

Los Romanticos

“Los Romanticos” is a musical ensemble whose main objective and mission is to transmit Mexico and Latin America’s finest romantic music. Musical genres such as: El Corrido Mexicano, El Son Jarocho, La Cancion Ranchera, Musica Romantica (el bolero) y La Onda Chicana interpreted by Los Panchos, Los Ases, Los Caballeros, Rene y Rene, Lalo Guerrero, etc…and compositions reflecting these musical genres are melodies “Los Romanticos” are dedicated to preserve and perpetuate.

“Los Romanticos” is a bilingual/bicultural ensemble in every sense of the word. These singing troubadours are committed to the anthropological study of Mexican and Chicano musical systems and musical heritage and factors influencing musical growth and change.
